![]() Someone questions your authority? HERESY. Ruling a religious state is a perfect occupation for a vengeful, iron-fisted tyrant. And I’m not against the idea that her vengeance is some sort of Children of Dark-founded plot against the world, as Alsanna seems to indicate that none of them really care about spreading darkness so much as self-preservation and solace) (The reason why I’ve changed my mind about her motives is the absolute tediousness of having to do this every cycle AND the fact that Shulva seems to have been evacuated prior to the invasion, indicating that it’s rulers cared about the people’s safety to some extent, and weren’t using them for a massive poison-fueled soul feast. I don’t think it’s too strange to assume Elana (also considering her title as Squalid Queen, though in Japanese it is 卑しき女王エラーナ, containing 女王 meaning “Queen Regnant” instead of Queen Consort, found on this lovely pastebin page) was the principal founder of Shulva, who spent God knows how long ( think about it, Shulva fell probably near Vendrick’s ascension to power, and Sinh STILL isn't incapacitated) poisoning that damn Dragon to found a religious state with a King as the Figure-head. So, to get a better understanding, I’m going to try and piece together what I know about each daughter, so as to give a rough outline of their story, plans, goals, and motives.Ĭonsidering that Sinh, though his Soul indicates he was made pure once Yorgh pierced his hide and made the poison spew out, is now poisoned again, and the fact that the Priestess’s song was supposed to make the Dragon sleep, and Elana just happens to be singing… ![]() While an augur is essentially some form of herald/soothsayer/diviner, a prisoner indicates that Nashandra had little control over her desire, and it ruled her every action, whereas her sisters would be more likely to behave in ways less intrinsic to their birth emotion. Use the special soul of this prisoner of desire (though, I know not which word was used because I have no access to the Japanese descriptions)Īnd Lastly, the other moldbreaker, Nashandra: However, there are 7 Japanese words that could mean solitude, of which 4 also mean loneliness, which would apply to Nadalia better. ![]() Solitude isn’t an emotion, and seems to more so describe something about Nadalia’s life and behavior after reviving from her fragment. The wondrous soul of this augur of solitudeĪnd here’s the one who breaks the mold. Was transfigured as smoke, enticing people Soul of Nadalia, Bride of Ash, who renounced Which is supported by Elana’s description, which would implicate that Elana is Manus’s wrath. This child of Dark accompanies the dragon, The sleeping dragon of the Eternal Sanctum. Soul of Elana, the Squalid Queen, who rests beside So going by this, all descriptions of “augur of ” describe what piece of Manus they come from. This is further reinforced in her soul description. Now, Alsanna also confirms that the Children are born of a specific part of Manus’s emotional spectrum. (And probably since souls are their whole being, and not just something owned by them, as would be the case with Manus who presumably split his soul to form humanity and Gwyn who gave away soul shards in the way a Medieval Ruler would give away fiefdoms.) My theory is that seeing as they are all fragments, they feel incomplete on their own, and seek souls to make up for the perceived lack. It seems to give them some form of solace. Now, why do they seek souls? Well, from what her dialogue about Solace and Souls implies, I’d say it’s for a psychological reason. And seeing as Alsanna also mentions that the Ivory King had a magnificent soul, plus the fact that she can evidently sense that in you, would imply Strong-soul-owners are a magnet for the soul-seeking Dark Children. So, it would seem that the King-seeking behavior is all about finding an anchor of sorts. I was born of Fear, and my Lord provided comfort.Īnd so hear, I remain, heiress to my Lord’s wishes, watching over Chaos…Īnd later, after a couple more Loyce souls are given:Įven Dark seeks solace, and more so, souls. Now, I realize that he may have known all along. I sought him only to sustain myself, to smother my fears… I sought an anchor, and I saw that the King of this land was strong. I am, in fact, the incarnation of my Father’s fears. A frail thing, born from but a splinter of Dark. The Dark shattered into tiny pieces, one of which was me. ![]() Long Ago, in the depths of the Abyss, my Father perished. ![]() Here’s her dialogue after defeating the Burnt Ivory King: Alsanna has provided some interesting insight into the way Children of Dark operate, and why so many of them (well, the other three that is) are soul-hungry and why all of them seek Kings of some shape or form. ![]()
